Dail H. Bennett 1921 ~ 2009 Dail H. Bennett died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 1, 2009. He was born September 8, 1921 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Lester Grant and Ireta Waldram Bennett. He married Marjorie Shirley Ransom, the love of his life, in New York City on December 10, 1943. He graduated from East High School and then the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in Business. He was an avid, lifelong Utah sports fan and in 2005, he was honored at the U as a "super fan." After graduation from the University of Utah, he was called to serve his country in World War II. His love of flying took him into the Navy Air Corps, where he flew Air Blimps and fighter planes. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1967. Dail was passionate about his family. He enjoyed 65 years of a loving marriage to Marjorie and many years of learning, laughing, and traveling with his children and grandchildren. He dearly loved his family and he supported all of their interests and activities, attending many graduations, sporting events, and recitals. He never lost his love of learning. He traveled the world with family and friends, and embraced life. He built his own business, Trans West Sales Company, which he ran successfully until his retirement. He was a charter member of Willow Creek Country Club and served on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed many hours at Willow Creek, honing his golf game and cheering for his five children on the swim team. Dail and Marge were lifelong members of the Monument Park 3rd Ward (Foothill 7th). They worked together as Stake Dance Directors. Both were marvelous dancers and they danced many a night away with the Hi-Steppers Dance Club. He faced down every challenge and difficulty with courage and determination. His endless curiosity and infectious sense of humor guided him through life and endeared him to all who knew and loved him. He was deeply loved and he will be greatly missed. Dail is survived by his wife, Marjorie, four daughters: Bonnie Daniloff, husband, William A., Pat Bennett, Barbara Maloney, husband, Michael P., Bev Kelsey, husband, Craig. W. One son, William Dail, wife, Melissa; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexandra Hoover Bennett, his sister, Helen Drake, and his brother, Keith Dee Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 in the Foothill Ward building at 2215 E. Roosevelt Avenue. Family and friends may call Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, SLC and at the church on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive (Enter from 33rd South). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Dail's name to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (801-584-5800).
